<![CDATA[ Kronos Records has released the score for Aragosta A Colazione. The story: Marco is married to Carla, a rich businesswoman. Mario signs an order in exchange for Enrico's posing as Monique's husband. Carla invites them to stay overnight and join a business dinner party catered by Enrico's wife, Matilde. Can this farce end happily? Piero Umiliani wrote a beautiful, classy, jazz swing score that was previously released only as a limited edition LP (200 copies) in 1979 and never sold commercially! First time ever on CD.

Christian & Joe Henson's Malice In Wonderland

<![CDATA[ MovieScore Media has released Malice In Wonderland. The music that surrounds Alice in Simon Fellows’ modern day setting of the Lewis Caroll fantasy classic is a totally unique mix of beautiful fairytale themes in waltz meter, dark and noir-ish melodies for electric guitars, cimbalom, trumpet and saxophone, infectious banjo riffs, playful Hammond organ tunes, catchy jingles, indie rock, sentimental piano music and steamy club music. Brothers Christian and Joe Henson draw inspiration from their big collection of odd instruments when they created the score for the film, resulting in an truly unusual and exciting mix of musical styles, perfect for the dreamy and sometimes nightmarish setting of the film. As a listening experience on its own, Malice in Wonderland is both interesting and entertaining – listeners will have a smile on their lips throughout the whole album, which also features two songs, “Where Are You?” performed by Betty Steeles and the wacked-out “Titty Song” featuring Bobby Chitlin.

Available on CD and as download from MovieScore Media.

<![CDATA[ La-La Land Records, with Sony Music and 20th Century Fox, presents the remastered and expanded release of Jerry Goldsmith’s powerful orchestral score to The Edge, starring Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin and Bart The Bear, directed by Lee Tamahori. Considered by many to be one of Mr. Goldsmith’s last great scores, his music to The Edge is at once thrilling, thoughtful and breathtakingly beautiful – managing to not only convey the film’s majestic backdrop, but also it’s complex struggles of Man vs. Beast, Man vs. Nature and Man vs. Man. This expanded CD features more than 65 minutes of pure Goldsmith, including bonus tracks. The CD booklet contains exclusive liner notes by Jeff Bond.

La-La Land Records also presents the premiere release of Mark Mancina’s powerhouse score to Speed 2, starring Sandra Bullock, Jason Patric and Willem Dafoe, directed by Jan De Bont.
John Dankworth's Movies 'N' Me

<![CDATA[ The mercurial talents of the late John Dankworth (1927-2010) are celebrated in this Vocalion release, comprising JD's 1974 Movies 'N' Me album, marking the only occasion on which he recorded for the RCA label. As the title suggests, it was an opportunity for Dankworth to explore his considerable back catalogue of film themes, dressing them in attractive new arrangements that took full advantage of the rhythms and sounds of the 1970s. Of course, being a Dankworth album, the all-important jazz element is to the fore, the music best described as a happy marriage between big band, funk and jazz. Remastered from the original analogue tapes. First time on CD. the themes from Modesty Blaise, from Darling, the Morgan theme from Morgan A Suitable Case For Treatment, the theme from Return From The Ashes, the All Gone theme from The Servant, to name a few.

Edward Shearmur's Mother And Child

<![CDATA[ Varèse Sarabande has released the score for Mother And Child. Writer/director Rodrigo García teams with executive producer Alejandro González Iñárritu to craft this drama, highlighting the powerful bond between a mother and her son. It's been years since Karen gave her daughter, Elizabeth, up for adoption, and the decision to abandon her child has always haunted her. Upon meeting laid-back Paco, Karen permits her anxiety and mistrust to get the best of her. On the surface it appears that Elizabeth is none the worse for never knowing her biological mother; she's a fast-talking lawyer who's just landed a high-profile job at a firm fronted by Paul, though her unsavory penchant for exploiting others is about to blow up in her face. Composer Edward Shearmur proves equally adept at providing a sympathetic and touching musical palette for Mother And Child.

Score available from Amazon.com, Amazon UK, Amazon France and Amazon Germany.

Henry Mancini's Mancini's Angels/The Theme Scene

<![CDATA[ Vocalion Records has re-released a topper from the Seventies: Mancini's Angels/The Theme Scene. This CD compiles two albums from the later part of Henry Mancini's more than twenty-year association with the RCA Victor label, and both show that he was more than able to 'get with it' in the funky 1970s. This is borne out in Mancini's Angels (1977), which, of course, is a paraphrase of 'Charlie's Angels', the massively popular US TV show that invited viewers into the glamorous world of a trio of beautiful female private detectives. In 1978 Henry Mancini and his orchestra were back in the studio to record The Theme Scene, another exploration of film and television music, namely Mancini's superb arrangements of the themes from Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Three's Company and Fantasy Island. Remastered from the original analogue tapes. First time on CD.

Ennio Morricone's Baarìa

<![CDATA[ Silva Screen Records has released Ennio Morricone’s intense score to director Giuseppe Tornatore’s autobiographical epic Baarìa. Darker and sadder than Morricone’s recent work, the soundtrack for Tornatore’s Baaria is the maestro’s first feature film work in five years. Morricone comments on his work: "Despite loving the film very much, I believe I didn’t go overboard this time. I didn’t shoot all the artillery toward the sky I believe, except in some moments". This is the eighth score Ennio Morricone composed for a Tornatore film. Tornatore says: "I know that Ennio will give me every fibre of his musical sensibility and I know that his soundtrack will be extraordinary. I am certain of this before the project has begun".

The score is available from Amazon.com, Amazon UK, Amazon France, Amazon Germany and Silva Screen Records. ]]>

Carles Cases' Eloïse

<![CDATA[ Saimel Ediciones has released the score for Eloïse. It's a sensuous and ethereal story of two young women falling in love for the first time. Young, beautiful Àsia lies in a coma, her mother and boyfriend keeping constant vigil by her side. In flashbacks we see what led up to her accident, her life studying architecture at the university, the somewhat overbearing relationship she has with her mother and her passionless relationship with Nathaniel. Àsia seems unhappy and unsure in the world until she meets the mysterious and exotic Eloïse, an art student who asks Àsia to model for her. Eloïse is openly gay and unapologetically different from anyone else she knows, and despite her anxiety about falling in love with another woman, Àsia can't help but respond to Eloïse. The beautiful music is written by Carles Cases.

<![CDATA[ MovieScore Media has released the score for Flicka 2, 20th Century Fox's sequel to the 2006 theatrical feature. This is Mark Thomas' third score for director Michael Damian, who is an accomplished musician himself and has a strong belief in the role of melody and the power of music in his storytelling. The Flicka 2 score features many tender moments where the solo guitar takes the lead over soft strings, but also darker orchestral music as well as big, sweeping thematic writing matching the grand vistas of the film's Wyoming setting.

<![CDATA[ From Lakeshore Records comes the score for Don McKay. A long time high school janitor leads a quiet life until he receives a letter from his ailing high school girlfriend for whom he has carried a torch. Returning to his hometown - and the scene of a past trauma that he inadvertently caused - the janitor reunites with the girl, but soon begins to suspect that her motives for summoning him are more nefarious than she's letting on. The music is by Steve Bramson. His score works in its subtlety. It's focuses on using solo instruments such as a piano, violin and some electronic drones to create atmosphere. The music speaks a sense of loneliness and intrigue.

<![CDATA[ Lakeshore Records has released the score for Bébé(s) (Babies). Directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Balmès, from an original idea by producer Alain Chabat, Babies simultaneously follows four babies around the world – from birth to first steps. The children are, respectively, in order of on-screen introduction: Ponijao, who lives with her family near Opuwo, Namibia; Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani; Mari, who lives with her family in Tokyo, Japan; and Hattie, who resides with her family in the United States, in San Francisco. “The music of Babies was written for a very special orchestra that included a lot of toys, a string quintet, wind orchestra, ethnic instruments, piano and percussion,” says Bruno Coulais. “The words of the lyrics have no meaning. The vocals sound like the beginning of human language.”

<![CDATA[ Varèse Sarabande has released the score for Robin Hood. Russell Crowe stars as the legendary figure known by generations as Robin Hood, whose exploits have endured in popular mythology and ignited the imagination of those who share his spirit of adventure and righteousness. In 13th century England, Robin and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. And whether thief or hero, one man from humble beginnings will become an eternal symbol of freedom for his people. Director Ridley Scott, whose Gladiator brought a contemporary spin to the world of ancient Rome, takes a similar turn with the Robin Hood legend, with a striking new score by Marc Streitenfeld.
